Blog the Sprog

It's a very weird thing, making a person. I honestly never thought I'd do it, but here we are... so I'm gonna tell it like it is. It's a very scary and exciting time. Yikes!

It's her birthday!

Having a caesar at 2pm today.

Doc is not happy with baby's response on the test he did this morning - plus I've lost weight which means amniotic fluid - plus the placenta is not functioning properly anymore.

Time for her to come out!

Can't believe it's 'over' - feels like I've been pregnant for 3 years!

Will update this space with pics asap...

Maybe tomorrow!!!

So, I might be having a caesar tomorrow!

Basically, sprog's not coming out by herself anytime soon - doc says it looks like it could be at least another week. Must be nice and cosy in there.

Problem is my blood pressure has suddenly gone up so doc is a bit worried and wants to see me early tomorrow... and he said "Bring your hospital bag 'cos we might just take her out!"

Ok seriously - what's with all the saliva!!!???

Coming up to the end of 38 weeks and still no sign of sprog coming out.

I am VERY uncomfortable at this stage - legs hurt like hell and my belly feels like a huge thing I'm lugging around that is not actually part of my body. She is kicking so hard my ribs feel bruised!

My feet have also swollen a bit now, so back to wearing sandals, which is just fine because I'm still hot as hell all the time!

My hands get really numb in my sleep these days too, which is apparently quite common (read more).

But much worse than that is the drooling... it so aint pretty! Excessive saliva is supposed to be a common thing during the first trimester when you're nauseas - but I seem to only have it now. I wake up with my chin and cheek drenched every night! It's really quite gross.

But with all that, I've been quite lucky by not having many of the other horrible pregnancy side-effects:
- Rashes
- Eczema
- Bleeding gums (happened twice only so can't say I've suffered)
- Heartburn (also, had it slightly twice and it only lasted about an hour each time - I am apparently VERY lucky!)
- Stretch marks (already have some from my weight gain and loss over the years and so didn't really care about this anyway)

Had a few weird dreams too - will blog about them in more detail sometime soon...

Close... but not yet

Went to the doc today. All is fine and we're gonna wait.

He reckons she'll come within the next week, so not much longer now! Still on track for a natural birth - not sure how I feel about that at this stage as she's BIG (and I can feel how big now!) - yikes!!! ;)

The best laid plans...

So, finished work yesterday and was looking forward to my 2 to 3 week rest period at home before sprog arrives.

Went to the doc for my (now weekly) scan and he says I've lost a lot of amniotic fluid since last week (don't ask me where it went, I have NO idea!) and he wants to see me again on Wednesday. If things look dodgy, she might have to come out then!

So I may only have these next few days and then she'll be here!!!

In a way it will be fine - we are pretty much ready, and then I'll have lots more time of my maternity leave with her at least... plus we get a Cancerian instead of a Leo (less hard work!) ;>

The end is nigh!

It's 37 weeks and I am done! Ok, not quite - she's not allowed to come just yet... I stop working tomorrow and then want some time to rest. But if I thought I was tired and uncomfortable last week, I had NO idea what tired and uncomfortable was!!!

As you can see from the pic I am "explodinating" in size!

So, the big question now is, how is she coming out???

I've done quite a 180 degree on this... from only considering an epidural caesar in the beginning - I now want to try for 100% natural (although I won't hesitate to ask for that epidural if labour pain is as bad as I expect it to be!).

This is quite a scary option as it makes the whole process much less predictable. She can come at any time!

The hospital bags are packed - we have all the stuff - so now we wait...
