Blog the Sprog

It's a very weird thing, making a person. I honestly never thought I'd do it, but here we are... so I'm gonna tell it like it is. It's a very scary and exciting time. Yikes!

REAL belly pics...

Ok - I'm almost 8 months now and have decided to 'bare the belly'!

Sleep...? What's that?

It is becoming REALLY uncomfortable to sleep these days!

I also wake up almost like clockwork between 4am and 4:30am, get up to pee and then can't get back to sleep.

Justin has started calling me The Wheel of Fortune because I toss and turn so badly at night... but it's so hard to even turn over with this huge belly now - and I have a cushion between my legs to contend with! Pity he's such a light sleeper as he's suffering quite badly now.

I also miss having a normal left thigh - it's been numb for months now and actually hurts when I touch it (damn that sciatic nerve!).

34 weeks - update

OMG, I feel really big and heavy now! As close as it is, I can't imagine lugging this ever-expanding belly around for another 5 or 6 weeks!

Everything is exhausting... I get out of breath from putting on socks and shoes!

OK - enough bitching - I really am still feeling pretty good despite the above. Am going to stop yoga class at the end of June though... it's getting pretty hard to exercise at this point.

Essential for surving pregnancy: one awesome husband!

Last night I got home from work really tired. Justin told me to go sit on the couch in front of the TV - and he then proceeded to bring me the most delicious dinner:
Salad
Butternut soup and garlic bread
Fish with pumpkin and green beans

Then later he rubbed my feet and ran us a nice hot bath - I was SO spoilt! ;)

Battle of the Bellies - heating up!

This is what I look like at 7 and a half months pregnant! Kets has no excuse...

The scariest part is I still weigh 2kgs less now than before I went on The Diet in 2004!!!

They DO exist! (A bit late now though...)

So after getting beyond frustrated about the maternity wear saga, I eventually gave in and took 2 pairs of my 'normal' tracksuit pants and had the elastics removed - problem solved!

And in typical Murphy's Law fashion, today I found a shop that sells very nice and affordable maternity wear - including tracksuit pants for R129.

It's too late for me now - at this late stage of the game I'm not buying any more clothes, but for all the other preggie women out there, check out Tums & Tots.

DNA

So everyone who sees our scan says sprog has my chubby cheeks... which makes me wonder what else she will inherit from me and Justin.

I hope she gets Justin's nose and dark hair. I reckon she's ok with either of our eyes, although my blue grey ones would be nice. ;>

I also hope she gets Justin's dark skin so she can handle the sun, unlike me - and maybe some of his height (we know she has long legs - DEFINITELY not from MY side of the family!).

Then there's the stuff I hope she doesn't inherit, like my really bad myopia and PCOS - or Justin's migraines.

It's all becoming quite real now!

Enjoyment at last!

So I have to say I'm really enjoying the 3rd trimester!

I'm big and quite uncomfortable already - but it's NOTHING compared to the nausea of the 1st and the back and leg pains I had in the 2nd...

Sprog is also kicking nicely each day (and night), and I am beginning to understand how one can miss that after the baby's born.

About 2 months to go now - it's the home stretch!
